Isaiah 58 Campaign

The Vision
Construction is underway at Neighborhood Ministries on the northwest corner of 19th Avenue and Van Buren. The next phase of our Isaiah 58 Campaign focuses on the development of the south 4 acres of our 8 acre campus. It will include the renovation of the silo warehouse into a new two-story classroom with an early childhood center downstairs and a youth drop-in center on the second floor. This phase will also complete the site work on this part of the campus that also houses three microbusinesses.
When finished, NM will have childcare available to low-income, working families, increase the number of children at Katy’s Kids Preschool, and provide a safe place for youth to come for tutoring, activities and leadership training after school. The improved campus will also increase sales at our microbusinesses, providing more job opportunities for our community.
Furthermore, though The Neighborhood Center has been serving families for over a decade, once these capital improvements are completed, the new building will be visible from the street, bringing our hidden campus to light, inviting the community to participate in the transformation that is happening here. Our mission, to be the presence of Jesus Christ, sharing His life transforming hope, love and power, will be visible like never before.
The Need
Neighborhood Ministries serves hundreds of impoverished, at-risk children and their families. The children grow up experiencing violence, abuse, neglect and a lack of education. With early childhood being a crucial time for brain development, age appropriate experiences develop the academic and social skills children require to succeed in school. Unfortunately, government cutbacks are removing preschool programs from the children who need them most.
Additionally, at-risk youth need continued encouragement to stay in school, activities to keep them off the streets, and caring role models. Without these, they will lack the hope and skills needed to break the cycle of poverty. Neighborhood Ministries has programs targeted toward helping children succeed from birth to college, overcoming the challenges of poverty and becoming leaders in our community.
